Welcome to St Hilda’s Secondary School’s website!
We believe that all pupils can learn, and we do our best to support all our pupils’ learning, and celebrate the successes of different talents. In all that we do, we seek to ensure the learning and development, as well as the well-being and safety of all our pupils. We design our programmes based on sound educational philosophy, the school’s mission, vision and values, with the intent of producing Confident, Caring, and Disciplined Life-long Learners.
Having recently been awarded the School Distinction Award, the second highest award under the Ministry of Education’s Master Plan of Awards, the school is even more committed to offer even higher quality of teaching and learning, more effective and efficient systems and processes, and sharper strategic focus, so as to provide excellent education for all our pupils. Supported by 4 strategic thrusts of Quality Programmes, Quality Leadership, Quality Staff, and Quality Partnership, the school seeks to provide holistic learning experiences for all our pupils, through a rigorous academic programme, and a vibrant co-curricular programme.
Our academic programmes are designed to match the ability and interest of our pupils. We provide our pupils going to Secondary Three free choice of subjects, constraint only by the availability of our resources, in order to allow our pupils to pursue their interests. We also offer the O-level Music programme in the school. Both Higher Chinese and Chinese at Syllabus ‘B’ are offered in the school to provide our pupils the opportunity to develop at a pace suitable for them. We offer the Through-Train Programme for our Normal (Academic) Course to enhance the learning opportunities of our pupils with higher ability in the N(A) Course. These are just some examples of our careful planning to provide an ability- and interest-driven academic programme.
Our co-curricular programmes have been particular strong, focusing on Character and Leadership Development, Sports, Uniformed Groups and the Aesthetics. The school’s winning of the Sustained Achievement Award (Uniformed Group) since 2002, Sustained Achievement Award (Sports) since 2007, and the Sustained Achievement Award (Aesthetics) since 2008, is evident of the quality of our Co-Curricular Programmes. The outstanding achievements of our Volleyball CCA have also made it a niche area for the school. We are developing this area further through the Direct School Admission Policy, by giving priority admission to 5% of Sec 1 pupils who have potential for Volleyball. All these are testimonies of our commitment to provide a balanced learning experience for all our pupils.
We look forward to partnering with our key stakeholders, particularly the parents, to make St Hilda’s Secondary School an excellent school, for the service of all our pupils, and for the glory of God.
In His Service
